Job summary

Peraton seeks a full-time background investigator near Gainesville, FL. Applicants must reside within 25 miles of Gainesville city center and complete a 6-7 week training to certify in Federal Investigative Standards.

Travel daily for in-person background investigations, interview subjects and associates, and perform record searches. You will document findings in a government system while upholding confidentiality and collaborating with a Field Manager.

Qualifications

• 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor's degree; federal background investigations preferred
• Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance; active federal background investigation preferred
• U.S. citizenship
• Daily travel locally and outside the primary work area
• Home office required
• Travel for TDY/remote assignments may be required
• Reside within stated mileage of Gainesville, FL
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; driving is an essential function
• Ability to type and report information clearly in a government system
• Strong grammar and writing skills for high-quality reports
• Professional interaction, attendance, punctuality, and attention to detail
• Maintain confidentiality and ethics in all duties
• Professional attire required
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds and handle varying field conditions

Responsibilities

• Complete a 6-7 week training to be certified in Federal Investigative Standards
• Travel daily for in-person background investigations to assess employment suitability
• Schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, and others
• Perform record searches at police, courts, educational and financial institutions, and health facilities
• Type and report all information in a government-issued computer system
• Work independently as part of a team with a Field Manager
