Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Field/Base Network Engineer to support the SMIT contract in the San Diego area. You will lead a large technical team, manage incident response, change and problem management, and coordinate with the NGEN-R program and customers.

The role requires DoD clearance, 8570.01 IAT II certification, and 25% travel. You will work with BAN/LAN/WAN operations, COMSEC support, and cybersecurity controls, ensuring high availability of networks and services for Navy customers.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree plus 4+ years of relevant experience; MS/MBA acceptable.
• DoD Secret/TS upgrade potential and clearance.
• DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification required before onboarding.
• Network vendor certification such as CCNA/CCNP.
• Willingness to travel 25%, including possible OCONUS travel.
• 5+ years troubleshooting routing and switching issues.
• Experience configuring switches, routers and WAN devices.
• Customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate as an Operations-focused Network Engineer on BAN/LAN/WAN operations, troubleshooting, installation, cabling, and integration.
• Provide COMSEC Local Element support, manage assets, loading keys, and liaise with Government KOAMs.
• Document work activities and maintain accurate site documentation.
• Initiate software upgrades and changes to the NGEN-R system and infrastructure.
• Perform maintenance and repair of faulty hardware following SOPs and vendor guidance.
• Interface with the NOC to support incident troubleshooting and restoral.
• Support asset management, configuration drift, and network documentation.
• Assist cybersecurity requirements and STIG controls.
• Coordinate upgrades and maintenance with program and customers.
• Monitor health and status of networks and pre-empt issues.
• Travel locally, or overnight, to project sites as needed; San Diego floater role.
