Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers is seeking an Archaeological Technician to perform field and laboratory tasks in support of archaeological investigations and regulatory compliance. You will work under supervision of a Project Archaeologist on surveys, excavations, documentation, and artifact processing while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include conducting field surveys, recording GPS data, cataloging artifacts, maintaining equipment, and preparing documentation for CRM

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Completion of a university-based archaeological field school.
• Minimum of 3–6 months of archaeological field and/or lab experience preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in diverse terrain and weather conditions on a regular basis.
• Physical ability to walk, bend, kneel, dig with hand tools, and stand for prolonged periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40–50 pounds, including field equipment, soil samples, or artifact containers.
• Willingness and ability to travel for field assignments as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct archaeological field surveys, including shovel testing and site documentation, following established procedures and protocols.
• Collect and record GPS data for field observations and site locations.
• Clean, label, catalog, and curate artifacts in accordance with lab standards and guidelines.
• Assist with the maintenance, inventory, and organization of field and lab equipment.
• Support preparation of documentation, reports, and deliverables for cultural resource management compliance.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency in all project tasks.
