Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers is seeking an Archaeological Technician to support field and lab tasks for regulatory compliance. You will work under a Project Archaeologist, assisting in survey, excavation, documentation, and artifact processing while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

The role involves outdoor fieldwork, data recording, and collaboration with a project team to maintain safety, quality and efficiency across projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of a university-based archaeological field school.
  • 3–6 months of archaeological field and/or lab experience preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in diverse terrain and weather conditions on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct archaeological field surveys, including shovel testing and site documentation, following established procedures and protocols.
  • Collect and record GPS data for field observations and site locations.
  • Clean, label, catalog, and curate artifacts in accordance with lab standards and guidelines.
  • Assist with the maintenance, inventory, and organization of field and lab equipment.
  • Support preparation of documentation, reports, and deliverables for cultural resource management compliance.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency in all project tasks.
