Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers is seeking an Archaeological Technician to support field surveys, excavations, documentation, and artifact processing under supervision. You will help ensure regulatory compliance and data quality across projects, with duties spanning both field and lab tasks in diverse environments.

Responsibilities include shovel testing, GPS data collection, artifact labeling and curation, and collaboration with team members to maintain safety, accuracy, and timely deliverables for CRM

Qualifications

  • Degree in Anthropology or Archaeology from an accredited college/university.
  • Completion of a university-based archaeological field school.
  • 3–6 months of field and/or lab archaeology experience preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in diverse terrain and weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 40–50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct archaeological field surveys and site documentation following established procedures.
  • Collect and record GPS data for field observations and site locations.
  • Clean, label, catalog, and curate artifacts according to lab standards.
  • Assist with maintenance, inventory, and organization of field and lab equipment.
  • Support preparation of documentation, reports, and deliverables for CRM compliance.
  • Collaborate with team to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency.
