Field Applications Engineer – Network Test & Synchronization Technology

Location: San Jose, CA or surrounding area (Remote with 50% travel)

Be the technical lead for West Coast customers on a small, expert team.

My client is a growing global technology company. They design and build test instrumentation for network synchronization and network emulation, and their customers use it to check that critical telecoms infrastructure performs as it should. They’re looking for a Field Applications Engineer to join their small Americas sales team and act as the main technical contact for partners and customers across the West Coast.

The role

You’ll guide customers from the first technical conversation through to resolving issues after the sale. You’ll get to know the product line in depth, help customers set up and debug their test environments, and show how the solutions meet their requirements. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Marketing, Sales and Operations, and your customer insight will feed into the products.

You will:

• Learn the product line and the technologies behind it in depth
• Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support, building consultative relationships with partners and customers
• Assess product capability against customer needs and help define test requirements
• Prepare test configurations, debug lab setups and see issues through to resolution
• Run product demonstrations that show how the solutions meet each customer’s requirements
• Spot new business opportunities and help put proposals together
• Travel around 50% of the time, mostly within the region, with some international travel

What you’ll bring

• Experience in computer networking
• A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent networking experience
• Networking and protocol knowledge (CCNA or equivalent is a plus)
• Strong written and verbal communication, and confidence presenting
• The ability to build trusted relationships with customers
• A self-starting, adaptable approach. You prioritize well, work independently and enjoy being part of a team
