Job summary

Scope Labs in New York City is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with startup customers, owning the technical relationship from day one. You'll ship meaningful AI-enabled solutions by Friday and handle deployments across production environments.

You'll work autonomously while collaborating with product and engineering teams, translating customer needs into actionable initiatives and ensuring deployments deliver real value for fast-moving teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a technical, customer-facing role such as Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Software Engineer with consulting or startup experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript with a track record of shipping production software.
• Hands-on experience deploying or integrating AI tooling, including LLMs, AI agents, or AI-native developer tools, into real workflows.
• High agency with comfort operating in ambiguous environments and limited direction.
• Strong communication skills across audiences, from senior engineers to non-technical founders.
• Team-first attitude with the ability to juggle multiple customer engagements simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Own the full technical customer lifecycle from initial deployment through activation and ongoing utilization.
• Identify and champion high-impact use cases with startup engineering teams; ship integrations.
• Represent the voice of the customer to Product and Engineering to shape the roadmap.
