Job summary

Horace Mann is seeking an Agency Consultant to lead, coach, and develop new agents as they build successful, sustainable agencies. This highly visible field leadership role combines coaching, consulting, sales execution, and performance management, with significant time in agents’ local markets.

The position reports to the Agency Consultant Executive and offers a base salary plus incentive opportunities, with compensation commensurate with experience and location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of field sales, agency, sales leadership, or business consulting experience.
• Knowledge of repeatable sales processes, business planning, performance coaching, and new-agent development.

Responsibilities

• Promote Horace Mann's story and value proposition to new agents.
• Build strong relationships with new agents and engage with Horace Mann’s mission.
• Coach agents through early agency development, establishing business practices and sales disciplines.
• Collaborate with agents to create and execute agency business plans with clear goals.
• Work alongside agents in the field to demonstrate prospecting, school-based activities, and sales presentations.
• Assist agents with school access strategies, educator relationships, and local marketing opportunities.
• Analyze agency performance to identify trends and growth opportunities and implement improvements.
• Link Horace Mann capabilities and growth programs to local market opportunities.
• Help agents implement processes to strengthen performance and long-term value.
• Leverage data, tools, and resources to evaluate results and drive performance.
• Set clear performance expectations and provide actionable coaching.
• Assist in transitioning underperforming agents out of the engagement when needed.
• Partner with recruiting to support new-agent pipeline and launches.
• Collaborate across functions to ensure access to needed resources.
