Job summary
Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Substation Fiber Technician to terminate, splice, document and test fiber optic lines within customer networks. Five years' experience and EXFO fiber equipment familiarity are preferred; travel is required.
The role emphasizes tests with OTDRs, light sources and meters, installation of fiber equipment, and adherence to safety standards. Blueprint reading and basic networking knowledge are essential, with competitive benefits and professional development
Qualifications
- Associates or Technical Degree preferred.
- CWDM and DWDM experience preferred.
- Experience in carrier technologies a plus.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
- Perform fiber tests with OTDRs, light source and meters.
- Terminate, splice, bonds/grounds and tests fiber optic equipment to standards.
- Install fiber optic equipment and patch panels.
- Read blueprints and understand work scopes.
- Travel as required and adhere to safety standards.
