Job summary

Forged Fiber is seeking a Fiber Tech II - Splicing Technician to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable across construction, operations, maintenance, and restoration projects in the Tacoma area.

Work at 2503 80th St, Tacoma WA 98409 with a team focused on safety, quality, and efficient network restoration. Candidates should have 2+ years of fiber splicing/telecom field experience, with proficiency in OTDR, fiber identifiers, and splicing equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state driver’s license and driving record.
• 2+ years of fiber splicing/telecom field experience.
• Proficiency with fusion splicer, OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifiers.
• Ability to read and interpret construction prints, splice diagrams and maps.
• Strong written and verbal communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice (single-fiber, multi-fiber, and ribbon), and test fiber optic cable for construction projects.
• Troubleshoot and isolate fiber faults using OTDR, optical power meter, and related tools.
• Prepare, install, audit, and repair splice cases/enclosures across various cable types.
• Perform testing and required maintenance to restore service and maintain route integrity.
• Read construction prints, splice diagrams, and design maps to complete work accurately.
• Coordinate with crews and document field splicing reports as needed.
• Use company devices for work orders, diagnostics, and communication.
