Job summary

MasTec Communications Group seeks a Fiber Splicer in Greenville, NC to build end-to-end fiber optic networks. You will test, splice, and troubleshoot networks while working in outdoor utility construction sites.

You will operate fusion splicers and OTDR equipment, read documentation on fiber design, and ensure high-quality workmanship. This is a hands-on role with overtime potential and a safety‑minded team environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Comfortable working on ladders and bucket trucks.
• Flexible with shifts and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot fiber optic network continuity.
• Operate testing equipment and resolve common fiber challenges.
• Prepare fiber splice enclosures (Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.).
• Use fusion splicer and OTDR with 1310/1550 DWDM/CWDM equipment.
• Understand fiber design, light levels and dB loss.
• Work at outdoor utility construction sites.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Testing and troubleshooting the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

Compensation of $27-$30 per hour.
