MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Fiber Splicer to build and maintain fiber optic networks. You will test, splice, and troubleshoot network continuity using fusion splicers, OTDRs, and related test gear.

This role involves outdoor utility construction and hands-on problem solving with a focus on safety and quality. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in fiber splicing, are comfortable with ladders or bucket trucks, and can handle overtime for long-term projects.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 LTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

Compensation of $24-$35 per hour, depending on the experience.
