Job summary

MasTec Communications Group in Temple, TX seeks an experienced Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks in outdoor utility environments. You will test, splice, and troubleshoot while maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will operate OTDR, fusion splicer, and associated test equipment and contribute to high-quality network deployments with hands-on problem solving. This role offers competitive pay and benefits with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Willingness to work outdoors at utility sites and in varying conditions.
• Comfortable working on a ladder or bucket truck.

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
• Operate all testing equipment and resolve common fiber network challenges.
• Prepare fiber splice enclosures (Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.).
• Use fusion splicer, OTDR, Power meter, and related test gear.
• Apply knowledge of fiber design, documentation, light levels, and dB loss.
• Work at outdoor utility construction sites.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Testing and troubleshooting the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites
