Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks, test and troubleshoot, and contribute to outdoor utility construction projects.

You will operate fusion splicer and OTDR testing equipment, prep splice enclosures, read design documents, and collaborate with a field team to deliver high-quality results.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience
• Safety is a daily practice on site
• Hands-on approach with a focus on quality workmanship
• Open to long-term projects and varied shifts with overtime
• Comfortable working from ladders or bucket trucks

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate fusion splicer and OTDR testing equipment, resolve common fiber issues
• Prepare fiber splice enclosures (Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.)
• Read fiber design documentation and understand light levels and dB loss
• Work at outdoor utility construction sites

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In Addition, You Will

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

Qualifications

Compensation of $24-$35 per hour, depending on the experience.
