Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks in outdoor utility settings. You will develop new skills and work in a safety-minded environment to help expand technology for a better community.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Comfortable working on ladder or bucket truck.
• Willingness to work overtime and varied shifts.

Responsibilities

• Testing and troubleshooting continuity of fiber optic networks.
• Operate testing equipment and resolve common fiber issues.
• Prep fiber splice enclosures from Tyco/CommScope/Corning, etc.
• Use fusion splicer, OTDR, power meter and related tools.
• Understand fiber design, light levels and dB loss; outdoor sites.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

• Testing and troubleshooting the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

• You are comfortable working on a ladder or a bucket truck

• You are flexible and enjoy a variety of shifts with overtime

Compensation of $27-$30 per hour.
