Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Fiber Splicer to build and maintain fiber optic networks. You will work in outdoor utility settings, operate fusion splicers and OTDRs, and ensure high-quality splice connections.

You will troubleshoot network continuity, test with OTDR and related equipment, and handle splice enclosures from major vendors. A strong safety mindset is required.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with outdoor field work on utility sites.
• Comfortable operating ladder or bucket truck.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In Addition, You Will

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

• You have at least 3-5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience
• You are comfortable working on a ladder or a bucket truck

Compensation of $75,000-$125,000 annually.
