MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks, emphasizing safety and teamwork. This role involves hands-on field work and operating precision testing equipment to ensure network integrity.

You will handle fiber splicing, testing, and documentation while supporting a safety-first culture on outdoor utility sites. The position offers long-term opportunities and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
• Operate all testing equipment and resolve common fiber-optic challenges.
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures from Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Use fusion splicer, OTDR, DWDM/CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, and Power meter.
• Apply knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, light levels, and dB loss.
• Work at outdoor utility construction sites.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

Qualifications

• You have at least 3-5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience
• You are comfortable working on a ladder or a bucket truck
• You are flexible and enjoy a variety of shifts with overtime

Compensation of $20-$28 per hour.
