Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking a Network Technician / Fiber Engineer to support and maintain fiber optic and telecom network infrastructure in Columbus, OH. This hands-on role covers troubleshooting, fiber testing, equipment installation, and service restoration across transport and IP networks.

The ideal candidate will work across fiber transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP technologies, perform preventive maintenance, update logs, and maintain inventory and documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience with fiber optic networks and telecom equipment.
• Proficient in OTDR testing and fiber troubleshooting.
• Familiar with Ethernet, SONET, and IP networking.
• Ability to perform maintenance and support outage restoration.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and maintain fiber optic and telecom network equipment.
• Perform network testing, installation, provisioning, and maintenance activities.
• Support fiber transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network technologies.
• Assist with network restoration and outage response.
• Perform preventive maintenance on network and critical infrastructure equipment.
• Maintain inventory, tools, test equipment, and related documentation.
• Update maintenance records, work logs, and trouble tickets.
