Job summary

Altafiber in Cincinnati is seeking a field technician to install and repair fiber, coax, and wired/wireless networks at customer sites. You will maintain documentation and support services from the customer premise, ensuring service quality and proper activation.

You will climb poles, operate company vehicles, and use test equipment to diagnose and fix issues while communicating clearly with customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Work Experience
• Ability to climb and pass pole climbing school
• Safety footwear required and weight restrictions acknowledged
• Satisfactory performance and attendance records
• Valid company driver’s license
• Physical ability to lift up to 85 pounds
• Ability to perceive differences in wire color

Responsibilities

• Install and repair inside wiring and jacks, including CAT5
• Install and repair wired and wireless networking
• Install and repair fiber to the home services
• Explain products to customers and resolve service understanding
• Access information systems to activate/deactivate services and reassign equipment
• Maintain, upgrade, and create technical documentation
• Climb poles and drive company vehicle
• Interface with customers and call center technicians to resolve issues
• Adhere to safety practices in all weather environments
• Cross-train others when required
