Job summary

TEKsystems is hiring an Outside Plant Fiber Technician in Burlington, TX to maintain and expand fiber infrastructure for data centers. You will inspect, test, repair, install fiber lines, and support upgrades while coordinating with engineering teams.

The role focuses on safety, compliance with local codes, and accurate documentation of tests, routes, and work orders, with a two-week training at Learning Alliance and TEKsystems.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on background in cabling, construction, field work would be great.
  • For all of these new hires, each individual will be entering a 2 week training course through Learning Alliance and TEKsystems before walking onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, and repair fiber optic cables and splice enclosures.
  • Perform routine audits of fiber routes and document any anomalies.
  • Monitor signal integrity and troubleshoot transmission issues.
  • Install new fiber lines, conduits, and related hardware.
  • Assist with expansions of the outside plant network to support new server clusters.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for large-scale installations.
  • Conduct field surveys to assess installation feasibility.
  • Update network maps and asset tracking systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, test results, and maintenance logs.
  • Follow safety protocols for working in confined spaces, heights, and around electrical systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with local codes, environmental regulations, and internal standards.
  • Work with internal teams to align on project goals.
  • Provide technical support during outages or scheduled maintenance windows.

Description

As an Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Technician, youll be responsible for maintaining and expanding the physical infrastructure that supports the data centers connectivity. This includes fiber optic networks, underground conduits, and aerial cabling systems. Youll work closely with engineering teams to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability of the client's global network.

Daily Responsibilities
Fiber Infrastructure Maintenance
  • Inspect, test, and repair fiber optic cables and splice enclosures
  • Perform routine audits of fiber routes and document any anomalies
  • Monitor signal integrity and troubleshoot transmission issues
Installation & Upgrades
  • Install new fiber lines, conduits, and related hardware

This is a Contract position based out of Burlington, TX.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
