Job summary

Rightfiber in Sunman, IN is seeking an experienced Construction Technician to install, maintain, and repair essential communication and utility infrastructure. You will operate heavy machinery, perform cable splicing, and ensure projects meet safety and quality standards.

You will locate utilities, read maps, and work with a crew to deliver reliable fiber connectivity. This role requires willingness to work non-standard hours and respond to 24/7 emergencies.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of relevant construction or utility experience.
• Basic knowledge of electrical wiring and equipment troubleshooting.
• Ability to lift up to 130 lbs., climb ladders, and hand-dig ditches.
• Valid driver's license (CDL) or ability to obtain one and comply with FMCSA regulations.
• Willingness to work non-standard hours and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Installation: safely install/replace lines using maps and staking sheets.
• Equipment Operation: drive/operate trenchers, cable plows, backhoes, and skid loaders.
• Utility Locating: identify/mark underground utilities using One-Call color codes.
• Team Leadership & Safety: mentor crew, enforce safety protocols, maintain hazard-free sites.
• Daily Reporting: complete time sheets, expense reports, and CDL logs.
