Job summary

TDS Telecom in Butte, Montana, is hiring a Telecom Horizontal Directional Driller II to build and maintain our state-of-the-art PON/fiber network. You will install, test, troubleshoot, and repair fiber facilities and operate trenchers, plows, and other equipment outdoors.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of construction equipment operation using directional drills, trenchers, plows, backhoes, or bucket trucks.
• Must follow attendance guidelines and be present for business needs.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and remain eligible for DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform general construction and maintenance of aerial and buried fiber facilities per maps and safety standards.
• Operate and maintain construction equipment (directional drills, trenchers, plows, backhoes) to build and repair outside plant networks.
• Install, splice, test, troubleshoot, and repair fiber facilities using specialized equipment.
• Conduct cable fault tests, locate defects, and resolve issues quickly.
• Update GIS/maps/as-builts; label infrastructure such as pedestals, vaults, and handholes.
• Restore worksites after project completion and mentor team members when needed.
