Job summary

TDS Telecom is seeking an Outside Plant Construction Technician I in Butte, MT to help build and maintain fiber optic networks nationwide. You will work on installation, splicing, and maintenance tasks, with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and efficient field operations.

The role involves climbing structures, operating equipment, and following DOT guidelines. Relocation and CDL training opportunities may be available as part of the role.

Qualifications

• 6+ months experience in customer service, electrical or utility construction, or technical certification
• Must follow attendance guidelines to meet business needs
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be eligible for DOT requirements

Responsibilities

• Conduct general construction tasks in various weather conditions, adhering to safety standards
• Transport construction equipment to and from the worksite
• Assist with installation of aerial and buried fiber based on maps and locate markings
• Operate hand tools, cable locators and testing equipment
• Install and set enclosures, vaults, pedestals and handholes
• Climb poles and structures; use bucket trucks as needed
• Label fiber optic and copper facilities accurately
• Use dispatching apps and tools for project coordination
• Support fiber splicing, repairs, and outside plant maintenance
• Restore landscapes to original condition after project completion
