Job summary

TDS Telecom in Butte, MT is seeking an Outside Plant Construction Technician II to install and maintain our fiber networks, including aerial and buried facilities. Training to obtain a Class A CDL will be provided, with hands-on experience on Directional Drill Rigs and related equipment.

The role involves operating construction equipment, performing tests, updating GIS/maps, and supporting field service technicians. Comprehensive benefits are offered and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of construction equipment operation with underground and aerial equipment (directional drills, trencher/plow/rocksaw, backhoe, bucket trucks) or military service.
• Must follow attendance guidelines to meet business needs.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and be eligible for DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain aerial and buried fiber facilities following maps and safety standards.
• Install, splice, test, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic facilities with specialized equipment.
• Conduct fiber fault tests, locate issues, and resolve them efficiently.
• Update GIS, maps and as-builts; label infrastructure like pedestals and handholes.
• Restoring worksites after project completion; train and mentor teammates as needed.
