Job summary

Advocate Health in Wisconsin is seeking a part-time Medical Sonographer to operate ultrasound equipment for general, vascular, and cardiac studies. You will review medical records, select transducers, and ensure accurate imaging while maintaining patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include documenting findings, labeling images, and complying with regulatory standards. ARDMS credentials and BLS are required within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Advanced training beyond high school in Sonography.
• No experience required.
• ARDMS abdomen and OB/GYN registrations within 3 months where applicable.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Competently operates ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular and/or cardiac procedures/studies.
• Reviews patient's medical record to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results, and physician orders.
• Positions patient and selects proper transducer and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures.
• Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
• Accurately identifies and labels images identifying patient name, MRU number, and scan location.
• Maintains records in accordance with regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the RIS; documents billing codes.
• Identifies equipment performance issues and evaluates new products for future use.
• Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes information, and communicates findings to the physician.
• Demonstrates knowledge to provide care appropriate to age-specific needs with department policies.
