Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Environmental Project Manager – FERC Pipeline Lead to join its Environmental and Regulatory Team; locations vary. You will manage NEPA documentation and lead FERC processes for pipeline projects, coordinating cross-disciplinary teams and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes strong relationships with FERC and experience with 7(b)/7(c) filings, third-party EA/EIS, and large-scale EIS management. Occasional travel to client sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environment Science or closely related field.
• 10 years experience in complex environmental planning/compliance projects.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the NEPA process.
• Experience managing large, complex EIS documents for transportation or infrastructure.
• Technical expertise in data presentation for environmental studies.
• Proficient with MS Office; strong writing and communication skills.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently and as a team.
• Staff management experience beneficial; travel as needed.
• Commitment to HDR employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Senior Project Manager for environmental permitting and NEPA documentation.
• Lead teams through FERC environmental processes for assessment and permitting.
• Develop client relationships and identify new opportunities for the FERC pipeline program.
• Oversee proposals, cost estimates, budgeting, invoicing and scheduling.
• Coordinate schedules, provide QA/QC, and lead problem resolution.
• Direct field surveys, data interpretation, and technical writing.
• Develop permitting strategies and coordinate with regulatory agencies.
• Manage multiple projects with limited oversight; mentor junior staff.
• Participate in client meetings and collaborate across regulatory teams.
