Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited law school with a current license to practice law in Texas.
- Two (2) years and six (6) months of experience practicing law.
- Experience as lead prosecutor for felonies or extensive appellate work is required.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates criminal complaints to decide whether to prosecute and what charges to file.
- Reviews cases by researching law, interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence.
- Drafts motions, briefs, and other legal documents for trial or hearing.
- Explains legal processes to witnesses and prepares them for court testimony.
- Represents the State in trials and hearings, including opening statements and cross-examinations.
- Manages court docket and case schedules to meet deadlines and maintain records.
- Trains or assists in training Attorneys I, II, and III.
