Job summary

American International Group, Inc. is seeking a Complex Claims Director/Examiner focused on Federal Workers Compensation, including Defense Base Act claims.

The role requires expert handling, negotiation, and mentoring of Claim Representatives within an in-office setting, engaging with brokers, lawyers, and injured workers to deliver timely resolutions. Expect strong regulatory knowledge, investigative skills, and the ability to identify fraudulent claims while contributing to product

Qualifications

• Knowledge of legal/regulatory and litigation/procedural requirements for Federal Workers Compensation claims.
• Specialized knowledge of Defense Base Act claims is preferred.
• Proven experience in settlement evaluation and negotiation.
• Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation.
• Strong communication and writing abilities.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and handle Federal Workers Compensation claims with a proactive, best-practice approach.
• Utilize investigation, claim handling, litigation, and negotiation skills to settlement costs and protect recovery rights.
• Provide prompt effective customer service and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify and review suspect or fraudulent claims in line with guidelines.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to Claim Representatives; collaborate with underwriting for product improvements.
