Job summary

AIG is seeking a Senior Workers Compensation Claims Examiner to enhance our Federal Workers Compensation claims team. The role focuses on Defense Base Act claims, advanced investigation, and strategic settlements with a strong emphasis on service quality and compliance.

You will build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, mentor others, and contribute to product improvements with underwriting collaboration.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of legal/regulatory and litigation/procedural requirements for Workers Compensation claims.
• Specialist knowledge of Defense Base Act claims is preferred.
• Proven experience in settlement evaluation and negotiation.
• Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation.
• Lateral thinking and the ability to problem solve and develop new ideas to improve working practices.
• Strong communication, time management, administrative and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, handle, litigate, and negotiate Workers' Compensation claims to timely, cost-effective settlements.
• Provide prompt effective customer service to differentiate AIG from competitors.
• Identify and review suspect/fraudulent claims per guidelines and act accordingly.
• Maintain regular contact with internal stakeholders, brokers, medical experts, clients' lawyers and injured workers or representatives.
• Mentor and support Team Managers and Claim Representatives; share expertise with underwriting colleagues.
