The purpose of the Federal Work-Study Program is to give a student an opportunity to develop skills, gain on‑the‑job experience for future employment, and give the student flexibility to work around class schedules.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a Bay College student in the work-study program to be considered for this position. Eligibility for work-study is determined after you file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Work‑study requires that you are degree‑seeking and enrolled in a minimum of one credit that applies towards the semester you are employed.
  • You must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Preferred Qualifications

Months per Year: Work hours average 10–15 hours per week, dependent upon your work-study award.

Job Duties
  • Supervise stockroom activities and dispense supplies.
  • Prepare all needed stock solutions and maintain adequate amounts.
  • Maintain a current and running inventory of all materials.
  • Assist in ordering yearly materials.
  • Do general maintenance and clean up of all lab stations and other indicated areas.
  • Assist in helping students in the use of specialized lab equipment and materials.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe working environment for all persons involved.
  • Complete all other assignments properly and to the level required or indicated.
  • Assist in training of new laboratory assistants.
  • Be familiar with appropriate OSHA, MIOSHA, and other related regulations as they apply to academic labs.
  • Be able to apply and use all appropriate MSDS publications in the chemistry lab/stockroom and update.
  • Assist in making sure students works in the lab follow all appropriate safety regulations.
  • Be able to use the appropriate source for developing methods for disposal of all types of chemicals.
