Job summary

Sheakley in Philadelphia, PA is seeking a Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) for a 9-month contract to lead the onsite safety program on a federal infrastructure project. The role requires EM 385-1-1 compliance, OSHA standards, AHAs, APPs, and coordination with government representatives and subcontractors.

You will conduct daily safety inspections, develop AHAs/APPs, monitor excavation and piping work, lead toolbox talks, investigate incidents, and maintain all safety documentation to support

Qualifications

• Current EM 385-1-1 training/certification.
• Minimum 5 years SSHO experience.
• OSHA 30 Construction Certification.
• High-pressure steam or condensate piping experience.
• Mechanical, HVAC, utility, or infrastructure construction background.
• Experience on federal or NAVFAC/USACE projects.
• Experience developing and managing APPs and AHAs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the designated Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) for the project.
• Implement and manage the project safety program in EM 385-1-1 requirements.
• Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Develop, review, and enforce AHAs and APPs.
• Monitor excavation, underground utility, piping, and mechanical construction activities.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and federal contract requirements.
• Coordinate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee safety orientations.
• Identify unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
• Work with Government representatives, project managers, and subcontractors.
• Maintain all required project safety documentation and reporting.
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project.
