Job summary

Sheakley is seeking a Site Safety & Health Officer for a 2-year project on-site in Lexington, KY. The role provides full-time safety leadership on a federal construction site with EM 385-1-1 compliance and active hazard mitigation.

Responsibilities include safety inspections, trainings, incident investigations, and coordination with federal inspectors. On-site, 40 hours/week, 1099 contractor with potential overtime as project demands.

Qualifications

• EM 385-1-1 certification required.
• 10+ years of construction safety experience.
• Experience on federal or government-regulated projects.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, USACE, and federal safety standards.
• Detail-oriented, highly organized, and compliance-focused.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead safety meetings and corrective actions.
• Professional, reliable, and able to manage long-term projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide site safety oversight per EM 385-1-1 and federal requirements.
• Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Lead new hire orientations, toolbox talks, and site training.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance and enforce corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents and implement preventive measures.
• Maintain safety documentation and reports.
• Coordinate with project leadership, contractors, and inspectors.
• Promote strong safety culture on site.
