Job Summary

The Department of Fine and Performing at Texas A&M International University provides an enriching experience for aspiring artists, performers and music teachers. Our programs' mission is to enhance our student's knowledge and appreciation of the fine and performing arts and their relationship to society, as well as self-realization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Handles routine office inquiries from employees and students.
  • Assists in the day-to-day maintenance and responsibilities of the assigned department.
  • Responsible for clerical functions including answering phones, filing, scheduling, organizing, etc.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.
  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduates' students.
  • Must have a current and complete file with the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Must demonstrate financial need by submitting a FAFSA application annually.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, or permanent residence, or has an alien registration number.an eligible non-citizen.
  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU's Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).

Other Requirements

Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions. Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. Some evening and weekend work may be required. Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule. Promptly complete all required training. Input hours worked daily and submit time sheet biweekly. May be asked to work after hours occasionally. Subject to funding and/or need.

Pay of Rate

$8.00/hour for up to 19 hours weekly

Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon the institution’s verification of credentials and/or other information required by the institution’s procedures, including the completion of the criminal history check.

To be eligible for Student Employment
  • Undergraduate Students:
    • Undergraduate student must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester of college-level courses or accepted remedial courses.
    • International undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 12 semester credit hours to meet the federal immigration guidelines.
    • Must maintain a 2.0 TAMIU overall GPA.
  • Graduate Students:
    • Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours per semester.
    • International graduate students must enroll in 9 semester credit hours in order to meet the federal immigration guidelines.
    • Must maintain a 3.0 TAMIU overall GPA.
  • Students who will be graduating may enroll for less than half time for their final semester. Must submit proof of graduation.
