Qualifications

  • Enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours undergraduate, 3 credit hours graduates).
  • Maintain a TAMIU GPA of 2.0 for undergraduates and 3.0 for graduates.
  • Must have a current FAFSA on file and demonstrate financial need.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen.
  • Must meet SAPP requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, setting up, and coordinating Farmers Market events.
  • Communicate event details and requirements to participating vendors.
  • Help organize vendor placement and event layouts.
  • Support event-day operations and assist vendors and attendees as needed.
  • Promote events through social media, outreach, and community engagement.
  • Answer phone calls, manage emails, and respond to general questions.
  • Maintain organized files, records, vendor information, and event materials.
  • Assist with scheduling meetings and preparing materials for events and presentations.
  • Monitor office supplies and assist with supply requests.
  • Update the Laredo Main Street website with current events, programs, and news.
  • Upload flyers, photos, announcements, and other website content.
  • Review the website for outdated information or technical issues.

Community Work-Study Program The Community Work-Study Program (CWS) provides federal financial aid eligible students the opportunity to work part-time at non-profit organizations that serve the public interest. Goals of this program include: Develop interest in public service through employment with TAMIU and be assigned to local non-profit, government, or community-based organizations. Apply skills and theories gained through coursework to solve problems and explore issues outside the classroom. Enhance career competencies, such as critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and leadership. Articulate how experiences will shape personal, academic, and professional pursuits.

Minimum Requirements
  • Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.
  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduates students.
  • Must have a current and complete file with the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Must demonstrate financial need by submitting a FAFSA application annually.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, or permanent residence, or has an alien registration number an eligible non-citizen.
  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).

Other Requirements

Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule. Promptly complete all required training. Input hours worked daily and submit time sheet biweekly. Some evening and weekend work may be required. Must have a reliable transportation. Subject to funding and/or need. Rate of Pay: $10.00/hour for up to 15 hours weekly All positions are security-sensitive. To be eligible for Student Employment:
  • Undergraduate Students Undergraduate student must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester of college-level courses or accepted remedial courses.
  • International undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 12 semester credit hours to meet the federal immigration guidelines. Must maintain a 2.0 TAMIU overall GPA.
  • Graduate Students: Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours per semester. International graduate students must enroll in 9 semester credit hours in order to meet the federal immigration guidelines. Must maintain a 3.0 TAMIU overall GPA. Students who will be graduating may enroll for less than half time for their final semester. Must submit proof of graduation.
