Job summary

Olsson is seeking a Project Manager III for its Federal Engineering & Design Team to lead multidisciplinary teams delivering high-impact infrastructure for federal clients, including military bases, VA campuses, and other government facilities.

You'll manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality from concept through final delivery, ensuring compliance with UFC, DoD, VA and related standards while mentoring staff and shaping best practices for federal design capabilities.

Qualifications

• Eight years of project experience in Architecture/Engineering/Construction with increasing responsibility.
• Active PE license required.
• Proven success managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering federal projects for DoD/VA.
• Strong understanding of federal design standards, acquisition processes, contract requirements, and project financials.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• High-level proficiency in client service, negotiation, and decision‑making.
• Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments with precision and integrity.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in fast‑paced settings and exceed client expectations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to mentoring and team development.
• Deep understanding of consulting business operations and a drive to contribute to firm‑wide success.

Responsibilities

• Lead full lifecycle project management for federal projects, including those for military installations, VA campuses, and other government facilities.
• Define project scopes, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with technical teams, and oversee execution to ensure financial success and timely delivery.
• Assemble and manage multidisciplinary teams, aligning technical expertise with project goals and federal requirements.
• Serve as the primary liaison with clients and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with UFC, DoD, VA, and other applicable federal standards.
• Manage contracts, change orders, and risk mitigation strategies to minimize financial and operational impacts.
• Oversee the preparation and delivery of technical documentation, including design plans, specifications, cost estimates, and federal RFP responses.
• Lead design reviews and implement quality assurance plans to meet client expectations and regulatory standards.
• Maintain organized project records, including correspondence, design files, and performance documentation.
• Cultivate strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service to support future opportunities.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to process improvements that enhance project delivery and team performance.
