Job summary

Olsson is seeking a Project Manager II to lead federal design teams delivering infrastructure for DoD/VA clients. You will manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality across multidisciplinary efforts, ensuring compliant, high-quality solutions from concept through delivery.

You will collaborate with federal stakeholders and internal teams to support UFC and related standards, while contributing to proposals and continuous improvement of federal design capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Six+ years of project experience in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction with increasing responsibility.
  • Proven success managing multidisciplinary teams on federal projects for DoD/VA.
  • Strong knowledge of federal design standards, acquisition processes, contracts, and project finances.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments with integrity and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage contracts, change orders, and coordinate with disciplines on billing and contract requirements.
  • Develop and implement quality plans to meet client expectations and firm standards.
  • Plan and lead routine project meetings and maintain project documentation.
  • Mentor team members and promote project management best practices.

Job Description

Join Olsson’s Federal Engineering & Design Team as a Project Manager II, where you will support the delivery of impactful infrastructure projects for federal clients. In this role, you will work with multidisciplinary teams to plan, design, and support construction for mission-critical facilitiesformilitary bases, VA campuses, and other governmentagencies. These projects require technical excellence, regulatory accuracy, and strong collaboration.

Asa ProjectManager II, you will oversee project deliverables for small- to mid-sized projects within a single discipline or defined area, as well as low-risk multidisciplinary projects, or provide supportonlarger project teams. You will be involved throughout the full project life cycle, managing scope, schedule, budget, and quality to ensure projects are completed on time and within established parameters.

You will collaborate closely with internal teams and federal stakeholders to support compliance with UFC, DoD, VA, and other applicable federal standards. From early concept development through project delivery, you will help guide teams toward practical, high-quality engineering and design solutions that meet client needs.

In addition, you will contribute to proposal development and support continuous improvement efforts that enhance our federal design capabilities. This role offers the opportunity to support projects that serve national interests while building your project management expertise within a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of six years of project experience in the Architecture, Engineering, or Construction industry with increasing responsibility.
  • Proven success managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering federal projects for agencies such as DoD and VA.
  • Strong understanding of federal design standards, acquisition processes, contract requirements, and project financials.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • High-levelproficiencyin client service, negotiation, and decision-making.
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments with precision and integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced settings and exceed client expectations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills anda commitmentto mentoring and team development.
  • Deep understanding of consulting business operations and a drive to contribute to firm-wide success.

Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate project scope in coordination with technical teams and develop project schedules and budgets in collaboration with clients and contractors.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, review costs, and track financial performance to ensure adherence to planned budgets, client satisfaction, and overall project success.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders,maintainingalignment on expectations, performance, and compliance with UFC, DoD, VA, and other applicable federal standards.
  • Identifypotential risks,scopechanges, andadditionalcosts, and implement mitigation strategies to minimize financial and operational impacts.
  • Manage contracts, change orders, and support contract negotiations, including coordination with technical disciplines on billing and contract requirements.
  • Develop and implement quality management and quality assurance plans to ensure projects meet client expectations and firm standards.
  • Plan, organize, and lead routine project meetings with clients and project teams to support communication, alignment, and progress tracking.
  • Oversee the preparation, delivery, and maintenance of project documentation, including design plans, specifications, correspondence, and performance records.
  • Mentor and support team members by promoting project management best practices using Olsson Project Management programs and related resources.
