Job summary

Olsson is seeking a Project Structural Engineer to join our Federal Engineering and Design Team, supporting nationwide projects that include military installations, VA facilities, and federal campuses.

This role leads structural design and coordination across multidisciplinary teams, applying UFC/IBC/ASCE/AISC standards, and contributing to proposals and client engagements. Strong leadership and mentorship are essential.

Qualifications

• PE or SE license is required.
• 6+ years of experience in structural design, ideally with federal clients or projects.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• Experience with UFC, IBC, ASCE, AISC codes is preferred.
• Proficiency in Autodesk and Revit for design and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering efforts for vertical infrastructure projects including barracks, hospitals, administrative buildings, and specialized federal facilities.
• Perform detailed structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood systems; develop plans, specs, and calculations.
• Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, mechanical/electrical teams, and federal stakeholders to ensure integrated structural systems.
• Apply design standards including UFC, IBC, ASCE, and AISC codes.
• Support proposal writing, scope development, and respond to federal RFPs to grow Olsson’s federal portfolio.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and review work for quality.
