Job summary

OMNIPLEX World Services Corporation is recruiting Contract Investigators to perform federal background investigations across the United States from a home office, with travel within a 35–50 mile radius and occasional long-distance trips. Roles are on an as-needed basis with a minimum 10 hours per week when work is available.

Candidates must meet citizenship and education requirements, hold relevant FIS experience, and be able to obtain/maintain required security clearances.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• H.S. Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of specialized Federal Background investigative experience within the last 5 years.
• Must have some FIS Experience.
• Reliable personal vehicle, valid driver's license, and satisfactory driving record.
• Willing to travel on temporary duty assignments as needed (by car or plane).
• Successfully pass background checks and all required training.
• Ability to solve practical problems in nonstandard situations.
• Ability to interpret various instructions (oral, written, diagram, schedule).
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, procedures, or regulations.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
• Proficiency with MS Windows and Microsoft Office.
• SSBI or active Secret clearance within last 2 years or able to obtain clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person, one-on-one interviews to obtain factual information about background and character.
• Obtain information from various sources to produce a comprehensive background report.
• Travel within the geographic area of responsibility to conduct investigations at workplaces, residences, and schools.
• Be willing to travel 30–50 miles as needed.
• Engage with managers, contractor facilities, and agencies to maintain relationships.
• Adapt to changing situations and interact with diverse individuals.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication and professional demeanor.
• Adjust workload based on case availability and leads.
• Perform other duties as required.
