Job summary

H2ajobs in Texas is seeking a livestock handler to care for cattle and other on-site farm animals. The role involves feeding, watering, herding, branding, and assisting with births, with basic health checks and record keeping.

Applicants must speak English, be able to lift up to 75 lbs, and have 6 months of recent experience. Housing and meals are provided; transportation to stores is arranged; a valid driver's license may be required after hire.

• Six (6) months recent and verifiable experience required for the listed duties.
• Must be able to obtain appropriate driver's license after hire and maintain a clean driving record.
• Be able to lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Attend to live farm and ranch animals including cattle.
• Feed, water, herd, graze, castrate, brand, catch and load animals.
• Maintain records on animals and assist in births.
• Administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate.
• Move livestock between locations and install/remove hot wire fences.
• Check fences and waters and maintain animal housing areas.

Job description

Attend to live farm, ranch animals that include cattle; Duties include feeding, watering, herding, grazing, castrating, branding, catching, and loading animals; Maintain records on animals; Examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; Assist in birth deliveries; Administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate; Move livestock from one location to another; Clean and maintain animal housing areas; Installing and removing hot wire fences to contain livestock; Checking fence and waters; Provide mineral to cattle; Must speak English.

• Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
• Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities, all of which are in working order, including refrigeration, space for food preparation, cooking accessories and utensils, appliances, and dishwashing facilities so that workers may prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities include adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries, when the employer is providing cooking and kitchen facilities.

Experience wanted: 6 months

Six (6) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 75 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
