Job summary

H2ajobs is seeking an experienced cattleman for a 500 head cow-calf operation to feed, doctor, fence, calving support and keep records. Duties include tending live animals, feeding, watering, herding, grazing, castrating, branding, catching, bedding and loading cattle.

Housing and meals are provided by the employer. Transportation to grocery stores is arranged weekly when meals/kitchen facilities are available.

Qualifications

• 3 months of recent, verifiable cattle handling experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Feed, water, herd, graze, castrate, brand, catch, bed and load cattle.
• Attend to live farm and ranch animals and keep records.
• Inspect and repair livestock facilities, buildings, pens, yards, and fences.

Job description

We run a 500 head cow calf operation and need of an experienced cattleman to help feed, doctor, fence, assist with calving & record keeping as necessary. Job duties include, attend to live farm, ranch animals that include cattle; Duties include feeding, watering, herding, grazing, castrating, branding, catching, bedding, and loading animals; Maintain records on animals; Load and unload cattle; Examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; Administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate; Clean and maintain animal housing areas; Inspect, maintain, prepare, and repair livestock facilities, buildings, pens, yards, and fences; Break ice. Must speak and understand English.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities, all of which are in working order, including refrigeration, space for food preparation, cooking accessories and utensils, appliances, and dishwashing facilities so that workers may prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities include adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries, when the employer is providing cooking and kitchen facilities.

Experience wanted: 3 months

Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a drug test at no cost to the worker and be subject to the employers drug free and alcohol free workplace policy including testing protocols. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
