Job summary

Select Genetics in Raeford, NC is seeking a Manager Trainee to support day-to-day farm operations, learn hatchery and breeding processes, and train to independently manage company farms.

You will participate in rotations, learn biosecurity and animal welfare standards, and assist with bird care, feeding, environmental control, and performance data while developing leadership and communication skills with farm staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A College Degree in a related field is preferred.
• Knowledge and/or experience of animal husbandry and welfare preferred.
• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record if needed.
• Ability to push, bend, stoop, squat, pull and lift 50lbs or more.
• Ability to lead and manage others; build teams; communicate effectively.
• Bi-lingual Spanish speaking skills is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate basic proficiency in math and computer skills that are necessary.
• Demonstrate the ability to be a self-starter without constant supervision.
• Demonstrate proficiency in written, reading, and verbal communication.
• Demonstrate willingness to help in any area to get the job done and effective time management.
• Work with a variety of tools and equipment.
• Successfully work with live animals.
• Wash and disinfect turkey production facilities safely and organized.
• Review activity reports and revise objectives with the Service Tech.
• Deliver supplies and equipment to locations as needed.
• Develop alongside Management to lead, train, and mentor employees to build a high-performing team.
• Perform duties while moving, lifting up to 50lbs, and exposed to dust and chemicals.
• Present a positive and professional image of the company.
• Willingness to work varied schedules, including some weekends.
• Duties may evolve with company needs; authorized by Supervisor.
• If required, drive a company vehicle and pass MVR.
