Job summary

Select Genetics offers a Manager Trainee program designed for hands-on leadership in farm operations across the country. This 6–12 month training helps you learn animal care, safety, and production standards while supporting the Farm Manager on daily tasks.

Starting wage is $18.85 per hour with Agricultural Exempt status (no overtime pay). Trainees will rotate through Brood, Grow, Lay, Stud, Maintenance, and HR to gain a full view of company operations and future leadership pathways.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s in a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience in animal husbandry and welfare preferred.
  • Valid Missouri Driver’s License with acceptable driving record, if driving company vehicles.
  • Basic math skills; computer literacy preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, listening).
  • Ability to lead, train, and motivate team members.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Physically able to work in varied conditions (heat, cold, dust, humidity, chemicals).
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in cross-training at various farms and departments to gain understanding of operations.
  • Assist with daily farm operations including animal care, facility sanitation, and equipment use.
  • Wash and disinfect turkey production facilities safely and efficiently.
  • Support Farm Manager in building and maintaining a productive team environment.
  • Deliver supplies and equipment to various farm locations.
  • Ensure compliance with biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks and work varied schedules including weekends.
