Job summary

Service Corporation International in Virginia is seeking a Family Service Counselor to lead client interactions, generate referrals and deliver personalized funeral service solutions. You’ll prospect, present, and close arrangements while building trust with families during difficult times.

You’ll collaborate with funeral directors and location staff to provide seamless service, handle inquiries with empathy, and drive revenue through pre-need and at-need offerings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 1-2 years of college or education and experience.
• 1-2 years of customer service or sales experience preferred.
• Current state-driver’s license with acceptable driving record; insurance license if required by state/province law.

Responsibilities

• Lead generation: prospecting 1–2 hours daily.
• Obtain referrals from families served and network with the community.
• Explain and present arrangements to families.
• Maintain activity levels and productivity tracking.
• Build relationships with families and respond to inquiries professionally.
• Understand each family’s needs and offer value-driven solutions.
• Stay in touch with families to ensure satisfaction.
• Prepare for appointments and perform procedures with professionalism.
• Follow through on customer problems and requests.
• Earn referrals by building trust-based relationships.
• Collaborate with funeral directors and staff to ensure seamless service.
• Review prior services to support current needs and sales.
