Job summary

WVU Medicine is seeking an Advanced Practice Professional to provide patient-centered care in a primary care and behavioral medicine ambulatory setting. The APP will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients within scope, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and participate in resident and student education.

The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, regulatory compliance, and improving patient outcomes, with a focus on comprehensive plan of care and follow-up within the clinic.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in state of Practice Maryland.
• BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department.
• Primary care experience preferred.
• Eligible new graduates will be considered.
• ACNPs and FNPs considered.
• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree as a Medical/Surgical Physician Assistant required.
• Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant (PA) training program required.
• Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants required.
• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the Board of Medicine in state of practice.
• BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department.
• Primary care experience preferred.
• Eligible new graduates will be considered.
• Master’s Degree as Physician Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages comprehensive and individualized care for primary care and behavioral medicine patients and their families in the ambulatory setting.
• Consults and/or pre-procedure evaluations, acute visits and wellness visits.
• Completes integrated assessments.
• Orders additional tests or consults as deemed appropriate under established guidelines.
• Performs diagnostic tests and communicates results.
• Cooperates with staff for follow up procedures and tests.
• Develops a comprehensive plan of care including teaching and referrals.
• Serves as a resource for staff caring for primary care patients.
• Participates in education for residents, students, and staff.
• Participates in community programs and distributes information as appropriate.
