Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• 48 college credits or an associate degree, or passing ParaPro or WorkKeys.
• At least 3 years experience with diverse families in urban settings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of community resources and social services in Boston.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Bilingual/multilingual abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the Boston Public Schools' vision for family and student engagement within the BPS and greater Boston community.
• Conducts preliminary/annual assessment of family engagement structures and activities at the school.
• Develops an individual work plan with quantifiable deliverables for family/student engagement.
• Responds to concerns from parents with empathy and follows through to resolution.
• Develops families' understanding to navigate the larger BPS system and resources.
• Provides school-based, regional, and community outreach to families about registration and transportation.
• Refers students and families to internal or external supports to meet needs.
• Ensures consistent, timely, accessible communication with families in multiple languages.
• Collects and reports data to document outcomes of family engagement activities.
• Oversees recruitment and retention of parents to School Parent Council and School Site Council.
• Organizes family engagement events/workshops on topics like report cards, parenting, and school policies.
