Job summary

Boston Public Schools is seeking a Family Liaison to build school-family engagement and serve as a bridge between home and school. This temporary role supports educators and families to promote student success and strong partnerships within the Boston community.

The Liaison will develop engagement plans, coordinate with school staff, and connect families to resources. This role requires strong communication and collaboration skills and scheduling flexibility.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• Requires 48 college credits or an Associate degree or passing assessment as specified.
• At least 3 years of experience working with diverse families in an urban setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Deep knowledge of community organizations serving families and children.
• Ability to communicate in family languages and adapt to home languages.
• Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
• Proven ability to build partnerships between school and family communities.

Responsibilities

• Promotes BPS vision for family and student engagement.
• Develops family engagement structures and activities with measurable deliverables.
• Assists families to navigate the larger BPS system and access resources.
• Coordinate outreach for school registration and transportation with support from relevant offices.
• Organizes family engagement events and workshops (e.g., conferences, parent education).
• Maintains data to document outcomes and impact of engagement activities.
• Supports recruitment and retention of parent leaders for councils.
