Job summary

New York Edge is seeking a Family Development Coach to foster partnerships between students and families within our High School Youth: Educational Support program in the Bronx. The role focuses on helping participants set achievable goals, coordinating services, and building trust-based relationships to support self-reliance and success.

The FDC will work in-person, Monday–Friday, 10am–6pm, with responsibilities spanning family engagement, resource coordination, and collaboration with schools

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with preference in Education, Psychology, or Social Work.
• Passion for New York Edge mission and interest in education and youth development.
• Experience in urban education.
• Experience using NYC systems (public assistance, child welfare, housing) resources.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, families and school partners.
• Willingness to be available for all program hours; bilingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an emotionally and physically safe environment complying with DOE/DOH and funder requirements.
• Identify needs of students, apply interventions, and track impact for weekly meetings.
• Monitor attendance and follow up with families to ensure ongoing engagement.
• Coordinate with teachers to target interventions and track impact.
• Establish alliances with City agencies and nonprofits for coordinated services.
• Support budgetary compliance and grant reporting; manage program equipment and supplies.
