Your day-to-day involves the active supervision and coordination of afterschool activities. You serve as the point of contact for school personnel, ensuring that the program operates in full compliance with state and federal laws. From preparing essential data reports to fostering a safe and healthy atmosphere for students, you are the operational backbone that allows our mission to succeed on the ground.
- Coordinate and Supervise Designated Afterschool Program Site (Approximately 50% of day)
- Coordinate afterschool programs in cooperation with the school site administrators and other personnel.
- Assure programs are in compliance with licensing requirements, state and federal laws, and rules and regulations.
- Collect and prepare program data and submit to State and Federal grant funding.
- Provide a safe and healthy learning environment for youth by maintaining safe practices and procedures conducive to maximizing learning.
- Ensure enrichment and instructional materials are set-up and set-out each time; ensure the classroom is left clean.
- Coordinate and implement various student and family services while assisting program administrators in identifying available services for implementation.
- Assure and evaluate program effectiveness and make and/or implement modifications as needed.
- Assist with placement and development of students and staff.
- Train program participants on a variety of program activities, including attendance, participation and program development.
- Effectively communicate with students, parents and outside agencies/organizations to resolve issues and collaborate with other organizations as assigned.
- Monitor student behavior and conduct and enforce behavioral standards and rules by providing approved disciplinary action.
- Communicate with students’ parents and site administrator or personnel regarding conduct and behavioral issues.
- Marketing Program and Data Entry (Approximately 10% of day)
- Develop a unique and marketable name for the site; design and develop effective marketing materials such as flyers, brochures and posters to promote and increase community awareness of the program.
- Create and implement effective incentive programs; disseminate enrollment applications to students; work to increase program enrollments using creative marketing and advertising methods while staying within budget.
- Record and input attendance of students via assigned software or database program; forward data to Teaching Fellows, Local Educational Agencies, and the school district.
- Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports related to assigned activities and what is required by State and Federal agencies.
- Review and approve time sheets; input new student profiles in E.R.C.'s attendance management website; monitor and record student activities.
- Monitor and Observe Classroom (Approximately 20% of day)
- Visit classrooms daily to ensure staff are actively engaged with students and their learning.
- Coach and mentor staff to further strengthen personal and professional development.
- Provide opportunity and flexibility for staff to manage instructional and enrichment time.
- Observe enrichment time; provide assistance as needed; provide constructive feedback and encouragement to students and staff.
- Go over lesson plans with staff ensuring proper alignment; monitor and determine proper student placement.
- Professionally address student behavioral issues.
- Manage Budget, Purchase Orders and Supplies (Approximately 15% of day)
- Monitor and manage assigned budget for the site.
- Prepare plans and reports for assigned school site coordinators.
- Monitor expenditures and attendance earnings to assure adequate grant funding.
- Complete and submit purchase orders; receive approved purchase orders; purchase supplies and materials as needed to further afterschool programs.
- Submit and sign receipts and invoices; review purchases and receipts with site principal or their designated official; maintain inventory of items purchased over $500.
- Store and maintain supplies at site location.
- Perform Other Duties as Assigned (Approximately 5% of day)
- Attend staff development trainings and meetings as scheduled and assigned.
- Follow direction set by the executive and immediate supervisor.
- Offer opinions and suggestions of proposed actions and decisions that may affect the afterschool program.

- 18 years old or older
- Have obtained a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Completion of 48 college units or passage of an approved exam, if applicable, to meet the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requirements
- Availability to work from 1:00PM - 6:00PM, Monday through Friday
- Proficiency in the English language, including spelling, grammar, and composition; ability to speak multiple languages is recognized as beneficial but not required.
- General understanding of educational standards and the public school system.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and Tuberculosis exam.
- Have one year of prior management experience or 1-2 years as a Teaching Fellow.
- 1-2 years of college education with emphasis in education.
- Strong commitment to serving local communities through mentoring, leading after-school educational programs for youth, and experience in youth development, and community service.
- Understanding of the public school system and State educational standards.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate groups and individuals.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Basic understanding of marketing and advertising.
- Proficiency in Google Suite products (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Basic understanding of human resources and budget management.
