Job summary

Archdiocese of St. Louis is hiring an Extended Care Aide to supervise and support students in before- and after-school programs. The role emphasizes safety, faith-filled environment, and activities that promote learning and community.

You will work under the Extended Care Director or Principal, assist with homework, lead recreation, and model Catholic values while partnering with families and school staff.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education/child development preferred.
• Experience with school-age children in classroom, childcare, camp, or similar setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during before-school, after-school, and school break extended care programs.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all students by maintaining appropriate supervision at all times.
• Plan, organize, and lead age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
• Assist students with homework as appropriate while encouraging responsibility and independence.
• Maintain a positive, welcoming, and faith-centered environment that reflects Catholic values.
• Lead students in prayer and model Christian behavior through words and actions.
• Promote respectful interactions and assist with positive behavior management using school policies.
• Communicate student concerns, injuries, or behavioral issues promptly to the Extended Care Director, Principal, and parents as appropriate.
• Maintain attendance records and follow established student sign-in and sign-out procedures.
• Assist with snack distribution while following school health and allergy guidelines.
• Keep classrooms and activity areas clean, organized, and ready for daily use.
• Follow all diocesan and school policies regarding child safety, emergency procedures, and confidentiality.
• Participate in staff meetings, required training, and professional development opportunities.
