American Electric Power in Chillicothe, OH is seeking an engineer to perform commissioning, operation, testing, and maintenance of FACTS and HVDC facilities including STATCOMs, SVCs, SCs, Synchronous Condensers and ESS. The role involves testing, calibration, and on-site installation and commissioning.

The position requires ABET-accredited engineering or engineering technology degrees and 2+ years of related experience, with PAT completion.

Responsibilities

Assist in testing and calibration of FACTS controllers and fundamental relay equipment, including verification and trip testing.
Perform switching at all voltage levels under the Dispatching Authority.
Maintain tools and test equipment; keep accurate records, reports and drawings.
Assist in troubleshooting FACTS devices and related relays and controls.
Read electrical schematics and vendor docs to support FACTS operation.
Lead on-site installation and commissioning of new FACTS equipment.
Help diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
Obtain fault records and oscillography to verify device operation.
Coordinate and schedule annual maintenance work plan; provide on-site support for maintenance and repair.
Develop maintenance plans, inspection reports, and documentation for FACTS fleet.
